Another Blogger, Another Shot, Another miss

Barry Nolan, some blogger in Boston titled a post: Massachusetts: Where Stricter Gun Laws = Fewer Deaths Other states could learn a thing or two from liberal, gun-hating Massachusetts.

Apparently he didn't feel the need to do any fact checking. The lack of fact checking happens often with the anti-rights junior league bloggers and that's why I'm here. To set you straight.

Before I start quoting the post, I'll address the title first. According to the FBI UCR in 2010, Massachusetts had a Violent Crime Rate of 466.6 per 100,000 people and a DEATH rate of 3.2 per 100,000. Vermont, on the other hand, which requires no permit to carry a firearm either concealed or open and has no law against Campus Carry had a violent crime rate of 130.2 per 100,000 and a Death Rate of 1.0 per 100,000 people. It seems that Massachusetts, with their strict gun control laws have a Violent Crime Rate 3 1/5 times that of Vermont and 3.2 times the Murder Rate. Apparently, strict gun control laws do not equal fewer deaths. Had Barry done any fact checking, he would have know this and kept his lies to himself.

I'm sure what Barry had meant to type, was that stricter gun control laws mean less gun death. I suspect that, because the anti-rights puppets are only concerned about gun death. They care not about other forms of violent death or violent crime. They have been brainwashed to ignore all other terrible tragedies and only dance in the blood of those who were killed by a bullet. They will not shed a tear or light a candle for a man stabbed to death while protecting his brother. They will not stand in shock or flock to help a woman who was set on fire by three adults and one juvenile. No, they will only dance in the blood of the victim of the bullet.

Moving on to the junior journalist's blog post:

One of the things many conservatives just hate about Massachusetts is our gun laws. They are strict. And they make a difference. According to the most recent figures available, the gun death rate in Massachusetts was the second lowest in the nation.

Looking at his source (an anti-rights brainwashed puppet) we can see that Massachusetts is not second, but third. Apparently, Barry can neither write, read or count.

You should know, though, that these figures include suicide. No gun control law affects suicide, so let's remove the suicides and see how many bad people are killing other people with guns. (2007 cdc homicide with firearms)

State                Gun Murder Rate

New Hampshire      0.46*
Hawaii                    0.55
Iowa                       0.60*
South Dakota          0.63*
North Dakota          0.78
Maine                     1.14*
Oregon                   1.15
Oregon                   1.15
Minnesota               1.35
Rhode Island          1.23
Vermont                 1.45*
Utah                       1.50*
Wyoming                1.53*
Montana                 1.57
Massachusetts         1.77

Looks like Barry's hometown state made the cut at number 14 with some very gun friendly states ahead of it. If you're wondering what the stars are for, those are states that made my Baldwin Top Ten gun friendly states.

Reading on, Barry attacks Zimmerman (who shot and killed a 17 year old Martin) and suggests that police are protecting Zimmerman because he's white and Martin is black. I dunno, Zimmerman looks to be Hispanic to me. But, do we really need to listen to any more lies and half truths coming from the junior journalist who can't even fact check for himself? His entire story is nearly a copy paste from kftv.com
