Man Booked in Hammer Deaths of Vegas Mom, Child
Using a hammer as a weapon, a "complete stranger" with no significant criminal history allegedly chose a family at random and attacked them in their home, killing a woman and her daughter, in a brutal crime that left investigators both baffled and aghast. This is an absolutely ghastly and gruesome crime. Had he used a firearm, the antis would have been all over this, but since it's just a 'hammer death', they don't care.
Bryan Clay, 22, was arrested Friday in the April 15 rape and bludgeoning deaths of 38-year-old Ignacia Martinez and 10-year-old Karla Martinez.
Clay also was booked in the beating and rape of a 50-year-old woman in the same west Las Vegas neighborhood hours before the slayings.
Arturo Martinez, 39, the husband and father, was critically injured in the attack and remains hospitalized with head injuries. He has been unable to talk to investigators. Both the mother and daughter were sexually assaulted, Steiber said.
In the earlier attack, the 50-year-old woman was walking near an intersection when an assailant forced her into a nearby desert area and violently sexually assaulted her April 15. "(She was) chased, beaten and raped," Steiber said.
It's a shame he didn't try to attack the police and let them take appropriate action. What's also a shame is that the victims either couldn't or wouldn't defend themselves. Perhaps the anti-rights bigots would understand why so many people insist on carrying a firearm. The chances of something like this happening is very slim, but it's still possible.
If I had to choose a way to die, beaten to death with a hammer would not among the top responses.. What say you?
When I chat with anti-gunners I ask them if they all have fire extinguishers in their houses. They always reply "yes". I ask "why". They reply "just in case the house catches fire" with a snarky tone. I reply, "that is why I carry a gun... just in case" with a smile on my face.
ReplyDeleteThat whole concept escapes liberal thought.
We cannot fix stupid.
My apologies for the late reply, I have been working out of the office for the past couple of days. Usually I'm only out for a few hours at a time.
DeleteI've had similar conversations. I was once asked what I was scared of. My reply was 'nothing'. He asked why did I carry a firearm, I responded for the same reason I have a fire extinguisher at home, just in case I need it. He thought he was being smart when he asked me why I didn't carry the fire extinguisher on my hip, I told him that I didn't expect my ass to catch on fire.
LOL! I'll wager that he didn't quite grasp that... plus fire extinguishers are so bulky.
DeleteBill- I too would prefer a gun shot to the head.

The above statement is so true. My buddies Mom (I grew up with him and often refer to her as Mom) use to hate guns. Not to the point of disarming America, but wouldn't even touch one. Back in '05, the grocery store she worked at was held up. Mom had a 12 gauge pointed at her head. Now, she's a bad ass gun toting old lady. God bless her.
It's a shame it took a wake-up call like that, but at least she's awake, and unharmed.
DeleteI can remember back in the day, police used to offer free self defense classes for women, they should offer free firearms safety classes for them now.
Several counties here in Virginia do just that! I love Virginia!!!!!!
DeleteBill,
ReplyDeleteI added your blog to my blog roll. I hope it helps with your traffic. It is vital that folks learn from your insight and experience.
Thank you, that's very kind. I've been fighting with the antis for a long time and one thing that I've learned is that their stance is always one from the emotional side and not so much from a logical point of view.
DeleteI recently had the opportunity school a District Attorney (anti gunner) who was prosecuting a guy for what amounted to no more than target practicing in his own yard. His position was that any time a firearm is discharged, it is dangerous to public safety and someone has to pay. He was so hell bent on prosecuting, that he refused to consider reducing the charge to a misdemeanor. After I pointed out that his calling the defendant to court was 37 times more likely to cause a death than the defendant shooting a firearm, he dropped the charges.
